Terms of Use

The important bits, in plain English. If anything here doesn't sit right, ask us before you start — we're happy to explain.

1. Who we are

MasterbIT (ABN 95 136 606 190) is a small, family-run computer services business operating from Elimbah, Queensland. By using this website or engaging our services, you agree to these terms.

2. Our services

We provide computer repair, upgrades, troubleshooting, malware removal, setup and configuration for computers, laptops, tablets, TVs and car/boat infotainment systems; custom PC builds; supply of used and vintage computers; in-home support; and computer training for seniors. Quoted prices are the prices we agree with you before work begins, and we'll confirm the scope of work in writing where possible.

3. Legacy and end-of-life (EOL) hardware

Work on older hardware — especially equipment the manufacturer no longer supports (EOL) — is provided on a best-efforts basis. Please understand:

  • Parts for older equipment may not be available, and we can't guarantee we can source them;
  • Older components have limited remaining life; a device may not survive repair or may stop working again for reasons we can't control;
  • Operating system support (updates, security patches) for very old machines ends at the manufacturer's mercy, not ours — we'll be honest with you about the risks before we start;
  • We'll do our honest best, but we can't guarantee a successful outcome on EOL hardware. Where we see a genuine risk, we'll tell you clearly and you decide whether to proceed.

4. SKITE — the online course

SKITE (Seniors Keeping In Touch Electronically) is general educational content only. It is not, and should not be taken as:

  • Legal advice;
  • Financial, banking or investment advice;
  • Professional, medical or other specialist advice.

Always follow the guidance of your own bank, accountant or other professional for matters involving your money or legal position. Course progress is stored only on your own device (see our Privacy Policy) and is not transferable between devices or browsers.

5. No warranty on used or vintage equipment

Used and vintage computers and components are sold as seen and, where stated, “as is”. We test what we reasonably can before sale, but equipment this age carries inherent risk. The Australian Consumer Law still applies to your reasonable expectations — if something isn't fit for the purpose we described, talk to us and we'll make it right in good faith.

6. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

  • MasterbIT is not liable for any loss, damage or expense (including loss of data, profit or business) arising from our services, except where that loss is caused by our negligence or fraud and cannot be lawfully excluded;
  • our total liability for any claim relating to our services is limited to the lesser of (a) the amount you paid us for that service, or (b) $2,000;
  • you are responsible for backing up your own data before any work is carried out — while we take reasonable care, data loss can happen for reasons outside our control.

Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth), including the Australian Consumer Law, that cannot be excluded by agreement.

7. Your content

When you send us a message through this website, you agree not to send anything unlawful, defamatory or that infringes someone else's rights. We'll use your message only to respond to you and to do the work you've asked for (see our Privacy Policy).

8. Intellectual property

The MasterbIT name, logo and the content on this website (including SKITE course material) belong to MasterbIT. You may use the SKITE course for personal, non-commercial learning. You may not copy, resell or republish our content commercially without our permission.

9. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The date at the top of this page tells you when they were last changed. Continued use of the site after changes means you accept the updated terms.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Queensland, Australia. Any dispute is subject to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the Queensland courts.
