Privacy Policy

Written in plain English, because that's how we talk to everyone else.

The short version

We collect very little information, we don't sell it, and we don't track you around the web. This page explains exactly what we do with the information we do receive.

1. Who we are

MasterbIT (ABN 95 136 606 190) is a computer services business operating from 1-3 Vine Crescent, Elimbah, Queensland 4516. We provide computer repair, upgrades, TV and infotainment work, custom builds, and computer training for seniors across Greater Brisbane, Moreton Bay and the Sunshine Coast.

2. What information we collect

We collect only the information you choose to give us:

  • Contact form details — if you send us a message through this website, we receive your name, email address, phone number (if you include one), the service you're enquiring about, and your message.
  • SKITE course name — if you take the SKITE course, you may enter your name so it appears on your certificate. This name is stored only on your own device (see below).

We do not collect anything else. We don't use cookies to track you, we don't record your IP address, and we don't connect your visit to any other information about you.

3. How your information is stored

  • Contact form messages are delivered to our own email address through your email program (the form uses a “mailto” link — there is no database on our side). We keep them in our email account like any other correspondence.
  • SKITE progress (which modules you've completed, and the name you entered) is stored in a part of your own browser called local storage. It never leaves your device. If you clear your browser data, or use a different device or browser, your progress simply starts fresh.

4. How we use your information

We use contact form details only to:

  • Answer your enquiry;
  • Arrange a job, quote or visit;
  • Keep records of work we've done for you (as good business practice requires).

We do not use your information for marketing, and we do not pass it on to anyone else.

5. No third-party analytics or trackers

This website does not include Google Analytics, advertising pixels, social media trackers or any similar third-party monitoring tools. The only external links on the site are to maps, our phone number, and your own email program when you send a contact message.

6. Data retention

In plain terms: we keep contact and job records for as long as we reasonably need to — to answer your questions and to be able to refer to past work if you ever need us again — then we delete them. We don't hoard data. If you'd like us to delete your information sooner, just ask (see below).

7. Australian Privacy Principles

MasterbIT is an “entity” under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and handles personal information in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs). In particular:

  • We collect only information that is reasonably necessary for our services (APP 3);
  • We take reasonable steps to keep any personal information we hold secure (APP 11) and accurate, up to date and complete (APP 10);
  • We do not disclose your personal information to unrelated third parties (APP 6);
  • Our use and storage of information is described on this page, as the APPs require (APP 5).

8. Accessing, correcting or deleting your information

You can ask us to show you what we know about you, correct anything that's wrong, or delete it entirely. To do that, just contact us using the details below and tell us what you'd like. We'll act on a reasonable request as soon as we practically can.

9. Complaints

If you're not happy with how we've handled your information, talk to us first — we'd much rather sort it out than hear about it elsewhere. If we can't resolve it to your satisfaction, you can also contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.
